Report of investigation into the abuse and mock execution of Iraqi civilians by a U.S. soldier on two separate occasions. Investigation established that the soldier committed the offenses of assault, conspiracy, release of a detainee without proper authorization, willful dereliction of duty, and cruelty and maltreatment.

  • 2003-06-20, Ghazaliya, Iraq
    • On June 20, 2003 a Lieutenant allegedly took a detainee, a boy, from his truck and brought him to the front of the truck, put a gun to his head, whispered something in his ear, and then move the barrel to the right of his head and discharge his weapon, the boy was then released.
  • 2003-06-22, Ghazaliya, Iraq
    • On June 22, 2003, Iraqi civilians were detained for looting an ammunition factory in Gahzalia, Iraq. An Iraqi father and his two sons were apprehended while looting. A Sargent engage him in conversation and asked him such questions as, "What if one of your sons was killed" as a result of your criminal activity. The Sargent then took one of the boys around the side of a building outside of the view of the father and allegedly fired a shot in the air intending to scare the father.
