CIA Copy of LA Times Article: Death of Prisoner Detailed in Testimony

This article describes the investigation into the death of an unidentified Iraqi detainee at the Abu Ghraib prison. A photograph of the detainee's body, which the LA Times calls one of "the most indelible images yet made public," was released during the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal.

    • An unidentified Iraqi detainee died approximately one hour after being hooded and taken to the Abu Ghraib "shower room" for interrogation. The military failed to provide medical attention to the detainee's severe head wounds prior to interrogation. After the detainee collapsed and died, his body was photographed while wrapped in plastic sheeting and covered in ice.
